PHP which is the 'engine' for your website and is constantly improving.
Thus from time to time the PHP version will need to be upgraded.
PHP upgrade is a manual and simple process and is managed from your cPanel via the MultiPHP Manager.
- To upgrade, select the PHP manager.
- Select the domain or domains.
- Select the PHP version and apply. (take note of the version before upgrading)
Test your website, if it 'breaks' go back to cPanel, select the relevant domain and set it back to the original PHP version.
Now you need to make sure all components that make up your website is upgraded and compatible with the latest PHP version.
Before you make any changes to your website, make sure you have a full WORKING backup of the files AND database.
To assist with this use the WordPress Manager in your cPanel.
If you are using WordPress:
- make sure the WorPress version is updated.
- the Template is updated
- the plugins are all updated
If the site still does not accept the upgrade to the latest PHP version, one of the above components/extensions are not yet compatible.
Some plugins are not updated and fall behind.
