South African Internet users are currently experiencing high latency to international locations due to a SEACOM fault near Kenya. This means that browsing to international websites and receiving email from international sources is problematic.

As a result, local Internet Service Provider's (ISP) have restricted certain types of internet traffic in an effort to manage congestion. Customers who are unable to send email are advised to change their email configuration to make use of their ISP's SMTP settings for the duration of this outage. Please consult with your ISP for assistance in making these changes.

We are not able to anticipate or prevent issues relating to international connectivity provided by the SEACOM cable

Latest reports indicate that the outage may continue for several days as the repair work is being done offshore.
